A petite, blonde haired girl sat, with her back against the cool stone, in the corridor that led to, a pretty much emo, Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. Her reason for being here was simply that she didn't have one, nor did she feel she actually needed one. This girl's name was Kolton Apple Roberts, and if anyone felt the need to make fun of her highly original name, there would be hell to pay, and she would be the one to serve it up. Kolton liked her name, more than she should, she thought it fit her, though she was sure her parents had named their daughter such a weird name on purpose. She didn't care though, she used her name and made it work for her.
Kolton drew her knees to her chest and rested her cheek on them. She was overly bored, there was no one around today, and that bothered Kolton. Usually, by this time, she had already made a few first years cry, but no, they decided not to make their usual appearances, and this itself angered her slightly. So, here she was, sitting in a corridor, bored and watching every flicker of light as if were preparing the way for some student.
Even a ghost would help ease her out of her bored state. A ghost, the lowest possible "people", if you could even call them that. Kol didn't have a very high opinion for anything less then human, werewolves, vampires, trolls, giants, ghosts, whatever. She didn't care for them. Though, she had been known to get along with the Bloody Baron, but how in any way was that surprising. Next to the Bloody Baron though, Peeves had to be her next favorite ghost, though he was a poltergeist not necessarily a ghost.
Kolton sighed, how lame was this? She was basically having a conversation in her head about ghosts and why she didn't like them. Yeah, that was just about the lamest thing she'd ever done. She huffed a little as she flicked at a small stone that had come loose from the path that led down the corridor. Stupid, bloody being alone.

In anycase, Adrian had been conserned about the welfare of other students since Myrtle was extra touchy lately. He knew that if he hung around the second floor, he'd might be able to prevent a flood and a ton of grief. He ust passed Myrtle's bathroom door...all was normal. Adrian glided around the corner at the end of the hallway in solitude.
There was definately ups and downs of being dead. The ups were that you'd be around forever and traveling was a bit easier... The downs was that nine times out of ten, you'd be alone, just like the dead ravenclaw was right now. He was so deep in thought, he almost forgot to greet a ravenclaw student he passed. "Hello." He said simply, with a nod of his head and he went on his way.
Wait a minute...a student...COMPANY! He paused, looked over his translucent shoulder and turned around, facing the student. He looked her over, she seemed familiar...he knew he had seen her in the halls before. Slytherin...7th year...Adrian could remember she had an uncommon name...
"You're Kolton Apple Roberts...are you not?" Adrian asked, his dark eyes scanning her. Was that her name?

Kolton's head whipped around, her blonde hair hitting her face lightly. Kol fought back a shiver as she realized who...or what had been talking to her. It was a ghost, and a particularly attractive ghost at that. Slight color rose to her pale cheeks as she looked him over. How strange, Kol rarely blushed, and here she was blushing in front of an ancient ghost. Gross. Kol quickly shook this off and glared at him. "Yes. That would be my name. And you are?" she asked ,though her tone sounded rather bored.
Truth be told she was grateful for the company, even if it was from a ghost. She looked down at her fingernails, examining them as if they were the most interesting things in the world. Her grey eyes looked up over her fingernails and surveyed the ghost again. Giving up on ignoring his existence, she planted her back against the cool stone and stared at him, looking through him at first, then at him. "So what are you doing here?" Kol inquired, keeping her tone at an obviously bored level. She didn't want to show too much interest in someone she found to be on the lowest level of existence possible, now did she? "Yes. That would be my name. And you are?" The color that had formally been in Kolton's cheeks disappeared and her look turned into a cold glare.
Adrian ignored it and madea slight bow, "I am Adrian Emerson, the wandering Ravencalw ghost." When he came back up, he smiled his dazziling white smile. Kolton did not say much, but instead found an odd interest in her fingernails. Considering this a lost cause, Adrian began to drift away. he turned around and faced her when she asked, "So what are you doing here?"
"Well," He began, "I am a ghost...I do believe I have rights to haunt the school aimlessly." Adrian chuckled slightly and then said, "Actually, I'm keeping an eye on Moaning Myrtle. She just found out Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley are dating, and she did not take it well." He had a twinkle in his eyes, "So, she'll be prone to flood things more often and my job is to prevent that...much like the cheerful Bloody Baron fellow controls merry little Peeves."
Adrian's voice sounded overall sincere...but if you listened well, you could hear a little hint of sarcasm. He raised an eyebrow at Kolton and floated lower so he'd be looking her in the eye instead of looking down at her. "And you? Why have you traveled to the second floor to sit aimlessly?" Kol gave a slight nod of her head as he introduced himself. Adrian, what an interesting name. She gazed at him, then through him as he began to glide away. Whatever, she didn't care if some ghost ignored her, he was dead and she wasn't. She at least had her life to be grateful for. Then, he turned around, it slightly shocked Kolton, but she supposed he wasn't really a rude ghost, no, he didn't seem to be rude at all. He seemed to be a push over and soft, not usually the type of company Kolton liked to keep. She waited for his answer as she rested her hands in her lap.
Kolton couldn't help but grin slightly at his answer to his question. So, he did have a bit of a sarcastic side. Interesting. "True, I suppose." she said, looking away from him again. Her eyes darted back to him with hidden surprise at the mention of Potter and the youngest Weasley dating. "Disgusting." she muttered, a sneer now on her lips. Truly disgusting. "Suppose that was eventually going to happen. Both of those little runts deserve each other." Kolton knew Harry was her age, but it didn't matter to her. She, in her own eyes of course, was above everyone that wasn't in Slytherin, and above even those that were in Slytherin. No, she didn't think of herself highly at all. "Yes. You'd do well to keep an eye on that little twit, always flooding the bathrooms. Annoying." Disgust was once again clear in her voice. If there was one ghost Kolton just could not stand, it was Moaning Myrtle, crying all the time. It got annoying, and Kol was the first to tell the dead girl just hat.
"I'll ask you to back up ghost boy." she sneered, wishing he was solid so she could shove the git away. "I don't see why any of that is your business." Kolton looked into his blue eyes, glaring slightly. She didn't need a reason to be where she was, she was Kolton Apple Robers, she answered to no one, not even this attractive ghost. "So what if I have?" she finally said, her tone coming down a notch on the rude scale, so maybe she didn't want to scare away her only form of company in this lonely corridor.

"Suppose that was eventually going to happen. Both of those little runts deserve each other."
"Hmm...I suppose they do..." Adrian said, slightly distant and in thought. It really was something that was to be expected...Ginny always fancied Harry. Adrian was taken out of his deep thought when Kolton sneered, "Yes. You'd do well to keep an eye on that little twit, always flooding the bathrooms. Annoying."
The disgust was clear in her voice....and Adrian hoped that Myrtle was not nearby to hear that. Once comment like that, and Myrtle would go to every bathroom, turning on sinks and clogging toilets. "Hmm...that is an interesting way to put your distaste for Myrtle...I don't think she would have appriciated it, but I digress." He smiled, "I'll do my job to the best of my abilities."
When Adrian finally got to see her eye to eye, she instantly said, "I'll ask you to back up ghost boy." Adrian raised a dark eyebrow, "I'll ask you to call me by my name, which is Adrian, incase you have forgotten. I doubt that you have though, I believe you are fully capable of remembering simple things like one's name..." Yet, he abided by her request and raised himself back into the air. Once he was at a comfortable height, he sat down in the air.
"I don't see why any of that is your business. So what if I have?" She said, her tone sounding less rude near the end. Adrian studied her for a second before answering. "Well, it could be my business...let's say you are doing something against school rules. Not that you are, but this is only an example, so please do not take any offence," he said slowly, "If you were doing something...illegal...it is my responcibility as a witness to turn you in." He leaned back, hands folded behind his head, slightly amused, "Now, if you are indeed just sitting here, I ask you: Why? What a waste of time? To sit here all alone when you could be doing something productive. But," He paused, locking eyes with her, "You aren't exactly alone anymore are you? Or does a ghost count as nothing more than dust on a wall?"

"Well, if you think about, she's always chasing after Potter, it was only a matter of time before Harry became pathetic enough to sink to her level. But, then again, Potter and the Weasley brat are on the same level of...let's just say, they're both dirty little Gryffindors and it's a match made in hell."Kolton rambled on. Just thinking about Harry and Ginny was enough to make her absolutely nauseous. She felt a shiver run through her, ok, she needed to stop thinking about the two before she actually did vomit all over the place.
Kolton simply nodded and took to looking at her Chucks, as though they were the most interesting thing in the hallway. Kol began to feel a little uncomfortable sitting on the cold stone making conversation with a ghost. It was truly disgusting, but in her mind, she made up a million excuses to forgive herself for doing so. If her parents could see her now...
"Fine. Adrian." she hissed, slightly annoyed by him. Her grey eyes watched as rose in the air, for an instant, she wondered what it would be like to be a ghost. Floating all day in the halls of Hogwarts, free to roam where ever, for however long. She figured she would end up being like Peeves, pulling pranks on people and just generally annoying the hell out of them. An amused little smile took over her lips, the havoc she could raise. "So..Adrian. How do you like being a ghost?" The question and her tone of voice took even Kolton by surprise. She was attempting to make conversation with this ghost, Adrian, and was showing genuine interest. How peculiar.
Kol quirked a blonde colored eyebrow. "You would turn me in? Wow. So you are one of those goody two shoes ghosts, disappointing." Kol muttered, looking at Adrian, then right through him to the wall behind him.
"Well, seeing as there isn't much else to do, no one to talk to, why shouldn't I waste my time the way I want. I like sitting against walls and being alone, good time to think." Sarcastic? Yep. Then again, not really.
You aren't exactly alone anymore are you? Or does a ghost count as nothing more than dust on a wall?
The question should have shocked Kolton, but she knew her distaste for Adrian had been evident in her voice. She looked into his eyes and let out a small sigh. "I suppose you aren't that bad. Other ghosts, such as the grey lady and that stupid fat friar man...and that annoying moaning twit count as nothing more than dust. You, on the other hand, are..as much as I do hate to admit this, are rather intriguing."

She began to ramble. Other people usually wouldn't care and would have stopped listening by now. Adrian was different though, and he would actually listen. This girl was interesting and had quite a bit to say. "Well, if you think about, she's always chasing after Potter, it was only a matter of time before Harry became pathetic enough to sink to her level. But, then again, Potter and the Weasley brat are on the same level of...let's just say, they're both dirty little Gryffindors and it's a match made in hell."
"I see..." Adrian said slowly, "Well, it provides gossip and I think that is all any one cares about. I do consider it shocking, though, that Harry Potter, who could have almost any girl due to his fame, chose his best friend's litter sister. That is interesting."
Kolton looked away. It was obvious that it was beneath her to speak with a ghost. God forbid that someone would talk to a ghost! Did she really think she was all that high and mighty? If she truly was as great as she thought, she clearly would have left by now...wouldn't she?
"Fine. Adrian." she hissed, slightly annoyed by him. Adrian smirked and said "Thank you." His dark eyes locked with hers for a moment. There was a silence and it was either because Kolton was in thought...or that she finally realized how beneath her it was to speak to him. "Well, it seems you wish to be alone. I'll just be-" But before he could leave, she asked him, "So..Adrian. How do you like being a ghost?"
He was taken aback by her tone. It wasn't one a snob would use. So..that is what she was thinking about. "It varies day to day. Somedays it's grand. You can go where ever, when ever. You can travel the world in twenty four hours as much as you want to. And of course, there is no need for spell memorizing." He paused, "Now, there are the days when it is just cold. Theoretically and literally. Other days it is very lonely because those who are alive believe ghosts have no feeling. They ignore us like muggles ignore their elderly...throwing them away and saying 'they've had their day'." He smirked, "Then again, you could always be miserable like our friend Moaning Myrtle or you can make life hell for those around you, like Peeves. It really depends on whom you are speaking with, Kolton." He smiled, "And how has it been lately to live?"
"You would turn me in? Wow. So you are one of those goody two shoes ghosts, disappointing."
He smiled and crossed his arms. "Well, it depends what is in it for me. If you give me reason to not like you, I'll turn you in," he raised his eyebrow, "Right now, though...I'm not sure what I want to do. I'm leaning towards keep you around since you hold interesting conversations."
She locked eyes with him and let out a sigh, "I suppose you aren't that bad. Other ghosts, such as the grey lady and that stupid fat friar man...and that annoying moaning twit count as nothing more than dust. You, on the other hand, are..as much as I do hate to admit this, are rather intriguing."
He chuckled, "I suppose that is a complement? Well, then, thank you. People can be plain obnoxious and arrogant...you on the other hand, are neither." He wasn't sure if that is what she wanted to hear...but to bad. He already said it.
